Same here... not sure if its supposed to?
Although my new motorola droid has a setting for turning on "auto-replace" for the physical keyboard, it does not seem to work. The auto-correct only works for the virtual keyboard. Anyone else have this problem and are there any solutions?

Interesting, it doesn't seem to work. Which is funny, because that's exactly why I choose the physical keyboard now and again. For some things, I don't want to be second-guessed. I just went into the settings to turn it off just in case they fix it.
It does actually auto-correct, but only certain really common mistakes (like teh -> the). A number of things like this behave differently when using the soft keyboard vs the hardware keyboard, which makes me think different android devs worked on these functions with no communication - rather unfortunately.
What I find more annoying is that it doesn't give you predictive text or spelling suggestions. When typing an email with the external keyboard, there is no way to spell check your mail, which feels like going back to old pocketpcs.
