    Question Movies on Droid Question?

Hi, I'm new to the forum and the android world. I wanted to know if anybody knew of any good app for playing movies on the Droid. I upgraded from an LG Voyager, which was able to play full 3gp movies. Does anybody know if I can use 3gp dvd ripper (which I used to create files for the voyager) or any other program to rip the movies in the correct screen size. Also, what about digital movies that come with Blu rays, does anybody know how to put these on the Droid? Thanks for any help.

Thumbs up Re: Movies on Droid Question?

After doing some research, I found the answers to my own questions...well at least parts of it. Found a great Android movie converter called Videora. I'll be posting my findings on whats needed to put movies on Droid in the forum-Putting movies on Droid.

    Hey Dennis,

I suggest you use handbreak instead. Videora is only used to convert your movie files to the right size and file type, (MP4 or avi) so that it fits the phones screen, in essence, shrinking the file to about 500mb or so. But, videora doesn't extract the dvd file, handbrake on the other hand does both, extract and convert.

Some dvds are portected and you may have some trouble extracting the dvd, I suggest using anydvd, you can use this program to remove the protection. After you remove the protection, then you can extract and convert using handbreak. When I intially started my research I found Videora, but then realized that I still needed a dvd ripper to extract the file. This was an extra step that took about 30 to 40 minutes. I then found handbreak which extracts the dvd and converts the file at the same time. It can take some time, it can take about 3 hours to extract and convert but its worth it. Plus Handbreak gives you a better quality picture.

You won't be able to upload drm files aka protected files or downloaded materials such as itune movies, amazon movies, etc. Droid doesn't support drm protected files. For now at least. Do a search on the forums for videos on droid or search all my posts. I've detailed all the steps and additional option you will need. I had origianlly posted on the videora but as I continued my research I also found Handbreak. You'll find them under my posts. Let me know how they work for you.

Videora is good for general video format converting, and Handbrake with DVD ripping as bonus, but neither of them can handle DRM-protected movie files like .m4v from iTunes .wmv from BBC iPlayer, Zune Marketplace, Xbox Live Store, Amazon Unbox, Windows Media Centre etc.

Personally i use Aimersoft Media Converter which can strip DRm license protection and convert both audio and video formats, of course, Handbrake for DVD movie.

    Merry Xmas!

I found a video on youtube, which provides a link/program (free zip file)and directions on how to remove drm (protected) audio and video files. Check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fG9dtZcxpQE
I'm finally able to put my blu ray digital copies on the droid. The only thing is that you can only convert video files at 320x240 resolution. I use 900 kbps high quality in the settings. As I've mentioned before I use act 1 which makes the video fit the whole screen. It works great for itunes files or other protected files. Enjoy guys!

Format Factory is free and rocks. There's some presets but due to the resolution on the Droid, you should probably make a custom profile.

By contrast, you could try Daniusoft best DVD ripper which a friend told me. It can help u rip any DVD to .3GP/.MP4 format which is compatible with Andriod phone. It is already optimized for output setting for android phone, conveniently.
