    Default Loving the Droid

I went and picked up a Droid today and I have to say I am impressed. The speed of the phone is awesome, it just goes. 2.0 isn't like huge jumps ahead but really appreciated strides.

The keyboard is probably the biggest let down. All the reviews were pretty correct in that it just doesn't seem like something you want to use full time. The layout on the 3 rows just sucks. The G1 keyboard is far superior.

I agree. I'm having trouble with the keys, but it's not a deal breaker.

I have the snap on body cover which makes use of the top row of keys even more difficult. Waste of money. The cover, not droid.

So how does the Droid physically let you know you have messages where an audio notification was missed or not heard? Is there a flashing beacon like the G1 or is it iPhone style and you have to just keep picking it up?

This is one thing I HATE about the iPhone. Actually I abhor the iPhone in that department. With it jailbroken and a status bar added, it's a bit more tolerable. I just find it unbelieveable that people never seem to have any issues with this particularly since most aren't jailbreaking it. They have to actually hit home, slide the slider to enter the home screen, and then look for the icons with a number on them to let you know what you have.

    RiGodamndiculous and retarded.

So how does Droid do it?

I got it for $200 at BestBuy. I could have got it from firefly or whatever that site is shipped for $150 but I wanted it today. I actually called a couple last night when there was rumors of some selling early.

BleedingPurist, it does have an LED to let you know you have new notifications like the G1 did

I am really liking the proxitmity sensor when you are on the phone and the sound quality is good.

Really about thinking the G1 keyboard is better? I had a G1 also and no way i think it was better. I actually like the keyboard on the Droid, could be a little better yes but way better to me than the G1, Pre and Nokia n97 now they had some suspect keyboards but got used to them also. Just really shocked people think this one is so bad

yeah I tried out PicSay, multi-touchin action no problems. I'm looking forward to some of the Milestones multitouch being ported over.

Yeah the keyboard really needs to be more then 3 rows in my opinion and the backspace key doesn't seem natural at the top.. im sure ill get used to that though. The A key is just awkward for me for some reason. The whole top row is a little cramped by the bottom of the screen too.
