Cliq owners, so without using the device heavily with the social networking notifications: how long is battery life? better than the G1?

Also, are you guys finding the slider to be a sturdier mechanism than the G1?

I think both (battery life & slider) are the most complains about the G1 and if the Cliq is better, then I just may switch.

Took the words right outta my mouth. I was talking to a rep at the Tmo store the other day and trying to convince them I deserved an upgrade (first guy was trying to work with me but he got called away and the second was a jerk).

I was enjoying the phone they had there, preferred the white as a matter of fact, but pretty much had the same questions you're asking here... how's the battery life and the slider? I didn't have much time with the phone but i actually felt I preferred the slide on the G1, the slid mechanism on the Cliq felt a little flimsy.

Aside from that, for those who upgraded from a G1 to a Cliq, overall what is better, what do you miss? Should I hold out until my contract comes up in four months for another phone to come out, or is this as good as it gets? I'll be going to spend a semester on the East Coast starting in January and was hoping to upgrade before then if it's worthwhile.

I'm coming up on my year anniversary I've had the G1. Love the functionality of G1, but hate the chin and the constant lag and memory constraints. I'm thinking I need to hold off any T-Mo upgrade, since my perception of all Android phones at T-Mo (Cliq, MT3G) are they are about the same performance as G1. In fact, Behold 2 seems to be about the same performance level as G1.

I want a powerful phone, like Droid. I love the notion of a seperate GPU, and plenty of memory. Does the Cliq seem laggy, and memory constrained? I constantly have issues with my G1, where I press an icon, and due to memory constraints, it tries to grab a different icon. Taskiller is my most important application on the G1, cause without it, my G1 would lock up constantly. I don't want the same with a new phone. I want power. I want a large display. I want more memory than I could use. I think I want a Droid. Does T-Mo have anything that will satisfy?

just read a review on Engadget that talked about the display being too small, and non-responsive. They also felt the processor was under-powered. Wish T-Mobile read that review, cause I can't see upgrading from G1 to that phone. I'm less interested in the social networking then I am with a phone that can scale and a display that is larger.

Do you normally base your purchases off of one online review? Engadget isn't the only site that writes phone reviews.

not normally. But understand, I didn't like the size of the display, the memory limitations, and the underpowered processor to begin with. Most reviews I've read of the Cliq center primarily on the software itself with very little dedicated to the processing power of the phone.

Where the concept of Blur is somewhat interesting to me, I've always been more interested in the processing power of my smartphones. I recognize the processing ability of the Cliq and that review pretty much confirmed my concerns. I'm a little surprised when folks on this board are that impressed with the processing power of the Cliq. Ultimately, I've tried to get excited by the Cliq, because I'm ready and willing to upgrade. When I read that review and the concerns they had with the display size and functionality, and the lag and processing issues, that was enough for me to pause on upgrading to any of the current T-Mo android phones and to continue to hope T-Mo can come up with something that will address my needs more closely. Clearly (and with frustration) the Cliq, MT3G, and pending Behold2 do not.
