yes, HTC is making a phone called "Droid Eris" but it is not the same as Motorola's Droid
I am not sure if anyone really cares, but the Best Buy in Fort Wayne, IN has a dummy Droid on display. I presume the rest of the Best Buy's do or are getting them soon if you want to see the physical aspect. Also, talking to the employee (not claiming that it is or isn't valid) but he assured me that the Verizon rep told him that HTC will be making the Droid also. I don't see how, but that is word for word what he told me.
Ironically, the picture of the newest Android phone was taken with my original Android G1
HTC Droid Eris
I despise Best Buy, so I probably would not go regardless... but does Best Buy ever offer actual working display phones once they are released?!
If not I will just go to Verizon store like I planned on doing anyhow.
It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me
I love Best Buy. They eliminate the whole rebate process, and you walk out the door for whatever the sticker price says. Their phones are also often cheaper than the corporate locations. Like the HTC Snap at a Sprint location is 99.99, BB offered it for free on a new contract.
Upgraded to
the HTC Hero
I don't know about other BBs, but the one by my house does not have interactive displays.but does Best Buy ever offer actual working display phones once they are released?!
I went to Best Buy in Sparks NV today looking for info on the Motorola Droid and they were terrible.
The two girls in the mobile section had no idea what I was talking about when I asked about the Motorola Droid pre orders. They didn't even know how their pre order process worked or if the phone would be there on release day. After waiting for 20 minutes while they tried calling several managers I gave up and told them I would go somewhere else.
I plan on calling some Verizon stores tomorrow to see if they have any demo models in store.
