Vibrant battery died over night but not during work

Last night, when I was about to fall asleep, I noticed my vibrant (which was plugged in at the time) was 100% charged. So I unplugged it and went to sleep.

Upon waking 7 hours later, it was off and the battery was dead.

During a normal work day, I unplug the phone around 8 and around 6 or so its about to die. But that is after some use during the day. Normal email, texting, Angry Birds.

Why would the battery die fast when not being used?

Weird, right?

and I should add I had turned all applications off. The only thing that would occasionally give a status is Lookout (antivirus). But it isn't listed as a running application like Angry Birds or web access.

Also, I have GPS, Bluetooth, everything turned off...I think.

While my issue was not nearly as drastic as yours, before I rooted my phone I would lose about 30% of my battery in the same time frame. I have no idea why stock vibrants have such terrible battery life but if you root your phone and flash a stable ROM you'll be good to go. My phone now loses about 5% battery life in 7-8 hours

maybe a live wallpaper is active? ive used some live wallpapers that have been written terribly. one would use more power than power coming in while charging. i would literally watch the power drop while on the charger.
