Yeah, if it's not working at all, return your phone. My home key lags at times if I've got a lot of stuff going on, but it's more like a second or two. I'll that its lagging because the haptic feed back doesn't happen, and sometimes Launcher Pro has to do this strange recycling, but again that's a wait of like 2 or 3 seconds.

Well in my case I don't get the haptic feedback. It's like I didn't press the button hard enough for it to register. So I'm still wondering whether this is a software or a hardware issue.

My first Vibrant's home button did this - it seemed less sensitive than the other buttons. My replacement's back button is now behaving like the home button did on the first one. That is, sometimes I press the button and nothing happens - no haptic feedback at all. Sometimes I press multiple times. If I wait for the light to go off, and I press when the light is off, then I get the feedback and the desired results.

But the fact that it acts flaky like this really makes me wonder if it's not software related instead of hardware. Shrug. At this point I just hope that a future update will help. I'm locked into my contract now.

I'm getting this issue too. Yes I understand it could potentially be phone lag. However. if you have the phone at the home menu and you let it idle, the menu button automatically gets pressed, and held, making the back key disabled and you get sent straight to the search.

Have any of you tried reformatting it?

I've had my Vibrant phone for nearly 9 months now and just recently ( in the past month or so ), my vibrant Home button does not consistently work. In fact it is better said that my Home key rarely works! It is very frustrating. I am not sure why it has stopped working. I have rebooted the phone several times and still yet it does not respond as it once used to. My other navigation keys work - settings, return and search - but my home key does not respond. It is extremely frustrating. ( I have never installed Launcher Pro ) I am not sure what may have caused this Home key to not respond anymore.

I have an annoying problem with my Galaxy S phone. The back button and menu button sometimes "stick" or phantom click.

I try to use the home key and it takes screen shots each time. When the menu button stops working I can put the phone down and watch the menu popup over and over by itself.

I just removed the protective shield but experience the same problem. It's been like this since I got the phone but progressively worse each week. It's now so annoying and the phones are on back order.

I love the phone but this problem really sucks.

My provider is Bell and no in store replacement after 30 days. So I have to wait for a package to ship my phone back in, including the original receipt (even though they got it on file) then wait for a replacement phone.

Things like this really pee me off! Anyone else with this problem?

I'm getting the same problem with my Vibrant from Bell, I touch the back button, it goes off and then it stops working and if I try to press the home button it takes a screenshot. It's very annoying and frustrating, Anyone can help with this issue?

I just picked a Galaxy S up yesterday from SaskTel (they come from Bell with slightly different settings). Mine is running Android 2.1 update1 and I am having the same problems. I should also mention my home button is fine, it's just my back button and menu button that does not always work in menus where it should.

Are you guys running 2.1 or 2.2?

    Galaxy S Android v2.1update1, Build ECLAIR.UGJH2, Kernel 2.6.29, Baseband I9000UGJH2, Manufacturer Date Code: 10.12

Arrow It's not just the Galaxy S!

    Hi guys!

I have a Galaxy Gio (GT-S5660) w/ Android v2.3.3 (Gingerbread). It has the same issue. The back button gets "stuck" so pressing the home button will cause screenshots. It's reallly annoying. When I'm in public, the phone gives this photo click sound, so people in my near surroundings may thing I'm some sort of stalker or wicked-minded, you know. Aawergh. I read about some service code to reset the touchscreen firmware, yet I've had no luck with this approach. Any ideas? Is it really software-related, or hardware? Some service or application that is bugging the phone? Could we gather up information on what we're running in our beloved ones? Cheers!

I too have the same problem in the Nexus prime, just after three days i received the phone, the home button and the wifi had totally stopped working, wifi needs to be switched on and off for many times and suddenly it gets connected, i think there is some antenna issues.
the home button works occasionally, every time i had to open the task manager and stop the programs running, then lock the device to be safe. whats up in the Samsung devices, hardware issues have become a part of all galaxy devices, Are they not checked and packed well ?
