Default Samsung Galaxy S (Vibrant) Home Key Issue

It was too good to be true. A perfectly working phone.

So i started having the issue where the Home key doesn't register alot of times, and apparently its a known issue over the net.
Many people are having this same issue where the home key doesn't work properly. Every other key is perfect, but the home key doesn't listen.

I wonder if Samsung will recall it, or could this be fixed with a firmware update? Or is it hardware?

That's why i should have bought from T-mobile so i dont have to deal with Wirefly

I am also facing the same home key issue with Samsung Vibrant or Galaxy S. Could any one tell how to solve it?

I am also experiencing this problem. Happened the second day I got the phone. It wasn't working at all. Then started working and just works when it wants to. I was waiting to see if its a common problem. Guess so.

Remember that the action of the Home key can be overridden by the application in the foreground (the one you're using). Is it always the same app that is running when the Home key doesn't work? Does the home key also not work when running one of the standard Google apps like GMail? Is the phone lagging (does the Home screen appear after waiting 30 seconds)?

I doubt Samsung would do a recall, because it's not a big problem with the phone. Most people's SGS's or variants don't have this problem.

Also, without being patronising, someone I know personally thought the home key wasn't working on her Samsung Galaxy S, but the problem there was that she thought it was a soft key, not a physical key, and was trying to touch it gently like she would the back or menu buttons. You're not falling into that same trap are you?

Eh? You're saying the Home Key is different from the Menu/Back/Search keys?
I dont think that's true. All 4 should be the same sensitive touch buttons, same as any other part of the screen.

Ah, my bad. I was thinking of the standard Galaxy S, not the Vibrant.

On the Galaxy S you have three buttons at the bottom of the phone - a central physical button which "clicks" when you press it, for home, and two soft buttons either side for Menu and Back. Some people don't realise it's a soft button and don't realise you have to press it until it clicks. The Vibrant is different.

No prob. I'm narrowing down the issue. The home doesn't work when the four keys are lit. It works perfectly after the lights turn off. So it can't be a hardware issue. Seems like some sort of software side issue.

I had the same problem on my Galaxy S. I realized it started when I installed LauncherPro. The Home Key did not respond at all and thus I could not make use of multitasking / toggling between running apps. After uninstalling LauncherPro it now works as expected.
