Samsung Galaxy number pad not working during call

Dear Experts,

I have a Samsung Galaxy from O2 Germany. The problem is, when I make a call, immediately the screen locks and light goes off/dim . When I unlock the screen by pressing the menu button, I am getting the menu, from which I get the keyboard. But, when I press the numbers in the keyboard it is working. However all other function such as Hold call / End call / Speaker from the menu are working.

For instance, when I make an US visa appointment through phone, I have to press the numbers during the call to select an appropriate service.

I contacted the O2 shop, and they told it is the android software problem. I would be very helpful for me if any have any idea/solution.

Its a bug:

You can get it to temporarily work again by killing the dialer storage process.
