Samsung Galaxy 5 Issues with messaging

Hi Guys,

Very Recently I brought a galaxy 5 which was my first andriod.

I love the phone, but there are few problem, i need to overcome.

1.When I send a SMS, I am not able select the recipent from my contacts . from the groups. I need to type the name or phone number on the "TO" bar. Its so irritating! Is there any solution to it.
2.Messages abover 480 characters are converted to MMS. I dont want so. Is it possible to resolve.
3.Does Galaxy 5 support new android versions(Now I have android 2.1). And how can I do it?
4.I feel the battery ies very soon. Is there any way to improve its performance.

Can you ppl at the Adnroid forum, help me out please!!

i am also having exactly the same problem what you need to do is to install new messaging software from market place : go sms, its free.
for battery issue just download : android task manager, and start killing the task/software that is still running in the background even though u close it.. enjoy.

No, in galaxy 5 firmware is not upgradeable..so it cant be upgraded..

unless you root it and flash a custom rom with odin

i'm using samsung galaxy 5. but whenever i download games even if it says that it saved in my memory card my phone memory is getting full. i have a lot of space in my memory card. i couldn't receive any text message whenever my phone is full. what will i do? please help.
