Thread: New Samsung Transform ringtone question

Default New Samsung Transform ringtone question

I am new to Android and have finally figured out how to download .mp3 files to use as a ringtone on my week-old Samsung Transform running 2.1. I recently installed a new .mp3 ringtone and it works fine and shows up in the "Phone ringtone" area. However, that same ringtone does not show up in the "Notification ringtone" area where I really want it. When saving a file as a ring tone, it doesn't give me the option to save it to any other location other than the Phone ringtone area.

How do I get all my ringtones to be available in all ringtone-appropriate areas of the phone? TIA!

P.S. I guess I'd have to learn how to hack my new Transform to change its startup ringtone to something else right?

I hope to find this out soon also. Spent many hours yesterday trying to get my Windows 7 64 bit laptop to see the phone as a hard drive. Now that I have signed drivers we are good to go.

I looked EVERYWHERE and couldn't find a thing involving SMS tone changes for the Transform. I just bought one yesterday and was messing around with it... and I wished to do this.

Well, after tinkering around online, I found something helpful. I discovered a way to add RINGTONES, but not SMS alert tones. The method for adding RINGTONES was simple... open your micro card to the main directory, adding a folder called 'ringtones' and putting your mp3 in it. Simple as pie.

Then it occurred to me... can I just not do this for text alerts? I tried 'texts' and it didn't work. I tried 'SMS' and it didn't work.

But go figure. When I tried naming a new folder 'notifications', it worked perfectly. So, there is your solution. Simply make a folder called 'notifications' and add your mp3 to it. Go into your settings ---> Sound ---> Notificaton ringtone. Then scroll and find your new SMS tone!!!

I should have figured it out sooner, and strangely, I seem to be the first on the web to have done so. Hope it helps, buddy!
