Default Android.process.acore stopped on Samsung Captivate

I just got this new phone on ATT. Synced with Facebook and Google. Every time I try to access contacts I get the above error message. It only seems to occur in Contacts. Wondering if anyone else has had the same problem and ways to correct. I already did a factory reset and resync and it didn't help.

Also, anyone hear of status on ability to connect phone to PC running Windows 7 64bit. Would love to add music and pics someday.

    Thanks

    Steven

I've heard of this happening with the Calendar (caused by repeating events that have their first occurrence in the past), but not the Contacts.

So what happens? You hit the Contacts app and it just dies? Does it ever work? Has it ever worked? Does it work before it first syncs?

It may be worth exporting all of your contacts via the website, deleting them all from the account, and after the phone syncs see if it works OK with zero contacts. Then import your contacts again a few at a time to see if it's data in a specific contact it doesn't like.

What's the problem connecting it to Win7 64-bit?

never had the problem in calendar, basically when in contacts some of my contacts will give info and some will not. For example, I tried a friend who synced from facebook and google and his caused the crash. I tried another with same situation and it didn't. Tried one which wasn't on facebook and it worked and another didn't. Doesn't seem to be a consistent reason.

Already a hard reset wiping the entire unit and no luck.

i've had problems but with contacts only with gmail info. Should I remove the facebook app, but doesn't that defeat purpose of social hub and facebook feed?

I bet you it's dodgy data. I've seen problems like this countless times over the years on countless systems... where one system works fine, and it works because it knows what data can be entered into it. But then somebody decides it's a great idea to link it to another similar system, which it has no control over, and suddenly it breaks. I bet you it's people on Facebook who have phone numbers like "Erm NO WAY!!!" or something causing it.

Shart965, isn't the Facebook app one of the apps that comes with the phone? How did you remove it? Also once the data has been imported removing the phone won't help, as invalid data is probably already stored in the database by then.
