Default LG Eve GW620 Just got.

This is my first Android phone, and I am totally amped on it. Just a couple questions that I was hoping someone could help me address.

The first is about when i am sending a text message, sometimes the text will be underlined and i will have to push space twice to be able to move to the next word. This is infuriating as i am so used to using a blackberry and now when i type a message I look back at it and realize i i barely have space between my words. How do i stop this and turn it off? Or is it a fault with the phone?

Second I am wondering how long of a battery life I am looking at. Currently i have not used it that much for the first three days. Majority of time on it has been texting, But each day I have had to recharge the battery as it dips below 15% after about 8 hours. Is this a fault with the phone or battery? Or is this normal for moderate text use?

Also I am wondering is there something I can do about the lock function of the phone. When the phone has been idle it reverts to a lock state. Then I have to push the standby button or menu button to bring the screen up, then again to unlock the phone. Thats fine, but the problem is, I also locked my phone with the pattern lock, and now i have to hit the unlock thing twice, and then put in my pattern to unlock it. Is there a way to change this?

Is there a way to change the notification ringtone?

Last but not least, is there a way to store photos in albums? While still retaining the actual photo gallery feel of the program? And not a file manager?

    Thanks,
    Adam

I personally don't have any idea what this phone looks like and i don't really feel like looking.
But hit the home button, and press menu, then go into settings.
This is (in my opinion) the must crucial part of having your device, knowing how to navigate in the settings.
Sound and Display will allow you to change ringtones and such and the lock screen timeout/screen timeout.

Idk about the battery, but just make sure if you have applications like Twitter apps that they don't update every 15 minutes or so because THAT will eat your battery up.

As far as your typing thing I have no idea, you can always go to the market and Download ChompSMS or Handcent. They are alternate applications that provide more options than the stock messaging app so maybe that will solve your problem.
(of course when you download one of the texting apps you will be presented witht he option to make one default/direct other applications to it. If you don't like this you can change it in the SETTINGS )

    Hopefully this helps buddy.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

I am very well versed in using the settings, and definately know the ringtone/notification ringtone possibilities. Moreso I guess i was asking if anyone else has the phone currently, because there seems to be no option to just change the notification ringtone to an mp3 of my choice. It gives 5 options or so to change it to, while the actual phone ringtone function allows me to use android stuff, or my own. I just found it odd.

I think i am going to get the battery replaced to try that out, because the damn thing died while i slept last night.. on standby. for a brand new phone, that is a bad sign.

    I understand the timeout function, but this is a very bizarre case i suppose. Let me try to explain it better;

The phone goes on standby mode when not used for whatever time period that is set. (thats normal)

When the phone is on standby, I have to push the menu button, or the standby button to bring it out (thats normal)

Then when the screen lights up, instead of coming up as me having to put in my gesture password, a screen comes up telling me I have to push the function (menu or standby) again to unlock, then once I have pushed it again then i can put in my password to unlock it. Just seems unnecesary.

I love to have my phone locked down, but figure i should only have to pick it out of my pocket and put in my password once to allow myself access.

It may be a LG thing, I dont know. If anyone can help that would be great.

I also suspect that the text typing system is specific to the phone, but I will try and get a third party SMS client and see if that changes.

    Thanks.

If you are typing a message and it isn't leaving spaces between words... press the right arrow key on your keyboard and you will notice that theses spaces where added after your cursor.
I have found that if you turn off your LG IME it will fix this issue. You can try just turning off the auto suggest in the LG IME setting but I find that the problem isn't fixed 100% unless you turn the entire setting off. Hopefully LG will have a fix for this soon because it is obviously their problem.

i have this phone as well. at first i hated it because of the battery life.

you should download the advanced task killer app and check to make sure you arent running a bunch of apps in the background. it seems to happen frequently.

i cant figure out how to uninstall pre-installed apps like moxier mail, etc. they frequently pop up on the list of active applications in the app killer and i never use these. i use gmail pretty much exclusively.

I've figured out how to change your notifications.
    Use .M4a files (any length)

    //media/audio/notifications/*.M4a

create this folder on your SD card if it is not already there.
the file will show up as whatever is in the tag info NOT the filename.

    enjoy!

They will never tell you when an update is coming, just in case something goes wrong and they can't release on that date. It will just happen one day. The phone has the specs, there is no reason why it couldn't run android 2.0, and besides, if LG doesn't do it we can all just do it ourselves. The phone has all ready been rooted. And this is all open source software.

I just got mine in the UK last week... and its replacement comes this Saturday!!

It seems to be a great phone but now it won't go past the android opening screen. Because it's so new to the Network who sent it I think it's easier to send me a new one.

Also I think there may be a problem getting into the android Boot screen in order to do a factory restore. The Home button is touch sensitive and doesn't seem to register that it's being held when you hold it together with the power.

I haven't lost faith yet though so we'll see how mk.II goes!!
