[Review]PhantomSkinz for MyTouch 4G

Hey guys, konzern here giving you a quick review on the PhantomSkinz MATTE Full Body kit for the MyTouch 4G.

I had a regular "ultra clear" skin on my g1 way back when i first got my g1 and it managed to keep my phone in new condition for over a year with 1 skin and about half a year with the other. TOO BAD THE SKIN DIDN'T MAKE THE PHONE WATER PROOF OR MY G1 WOULD'VE SURVIVED THE ACCIDENT IT HAD . So when i saw that PhantomSkinz was having a black friday sale i didnt hesitate to buy a skin for the MyTouch (even though i didnt even have the phone YET.)

also got a micro fiber cleaning cloth and 2 regular clear screen protectors but they were not inside the skin package so it might have been added because of the black friday sale I'M NOT SURE

Applying the skin was very easy and straight forward. Even though i had previous experience installing a skin, it would not be difficult for anybody that knows how to follow simple directions to apply the skin.

The end result is incredible, I absolutely love the MATTE finish of the skin and in my honest opinion is 10x better than the regular "ultra clear" skin.


The MATTE finish gives the phone a very unique look and separates your phone from all the other phones around. Everything that should be covers IS covered and the skin doesn't cover anything that shouldn't be covered. There is cut outs for the front facing camera, the camera on the back, the sensors in front, the mic, the speaker grill and the track pad.


As you can see, the screen protector is also MATTE finished which i found good and bad. PhantomSkinz claims the MATTE skin is "anti-fingerprint" and i was very skeptical in believing that statement simply because the regular skin was a finger print magnet. I was very surprised to find out that it actually does work and is very much "anti-fingerprint." I found that the skin is also anti-glare but using the phone in direct sunlight (I mean the sun hitting the screen directly, not outside use in general) is literally impossible.


Even though the screen protector is a MATTE finish you can still see the screen perfectly, with the exception of a very very slight fuzz due to the finish. The skin is not grippy compared to other skins like the invisibleSHIELD and the regular PhantomSkinz. The only downside i can think of, besides the direct sunlight issue, is that the edges of the skin attract dust and lint.

Overall i give the PhantomSkinz MATTE Full Body Kit 5 out of 5 Stars regardless of the 2 cons i listed.

looks like your phone has one of those washed out screens...
does it not bother you?

from what i can tell its not washed out, i think its just the flash on the camera and the screen protector

but i dont really know what im looking for when they say the MT4G has washed out screens. i was reading it on xda yesterday but honestly i think mine looks fine, the blacks are really black and the colors are vibrant.
