Actually, I have the Sony DR-BT22 wireless stereo headset and it plays through both earpieces. I really cant tell if its sending mono to both pieces or not not, but it sounded good as hell tho. Any audio would come through, wether from a movie, music, streaming audio(imeem) it all came through loud and clear. Its actually perfect when the person on the other end is just blabbering about nothin, you can just play some tunes. They cant even hear it. lol
I get the same with my Sony DS-970s as well, but it is mono being played through left and right. That's like listening to an AM radio![]()
Does anyone know if A2DP is hardware based or software based?
It's a little more complicated than that. The profiles are not there because Google didnt have enough time to finish the stack. There are a number of "calls" that happen internally which are not there and most of these areas are in the protected parts of the OS. I'm trying to say this simply but it isn't easy.
Bluetooth stacks are very integrated within the system. It's not going to fixed with the flip of a switch. This is the exact reason why Google didn't rush things. If they had gone 1.0 with their BT implementation then they would have been stuck with broken APIs from here on out...or risk breaking app store apps later.
I got my fingers crossed that they'll update the OS soon.
I've found interesting strings in packages/apps/Settings/res/values/strings.xml, line 747 (android source). Some of the strings says something about selecting device's profile, like headset or headphones, so I think soon we'll have a2dp support in android. Right now my Sony BT22 works as a headset (no music, just call audio).
I've checking android source last days so, any findings I'm commenting here.
Bye

Source on the hardware lack. From what was said of the developers, Stereo BT isn't available because of software problems, not hardware. I can use my stereo BT for making calls, but it will not pipe music through to it.
