I'm having the same problem. I was fine yesterday but I can't seem to be able to use the net, IM or even check the App store today.
Well I haven't used the Internet all day bc I don't get signal in my school. Anyways when I got outta of school I was walking to my car. I had a full signal and the E next to the signal bar . But the page wouldn't load or I couldn't get to the app market . So I thought it was just a bad spot but no I tried it again on the way home and still no internet . So I just got home I always get full signal and it always work in my house but not this time . Yes everything Is on . Everything was working fine yesterday then all of sudden it stops working WTF .I just turned wifi on and that is working just not edge .So why is this happening? Is my phone even tho it worked fine yesterday . I restarted it but nothing . Thanks

Check your plan online to make sure you have the g1 data on your account. There are also reports of 3G network outages in NYC and the Orlando area. T-mobile confirmed that Greater Orlando is definately a network problem.
Have you called Tmobile and asked to see if it is a network issue?

Yup, I'm having the same problem, no internet, no app store. I just assumed they were updating the service due to the security flaw. But I have not received the update yet either, I wonder if this is part of the problem.
Theres already a few threads on this, basically what you need to do is call and check to make sure your data plan got added to your phone correctly, because everyone was on a free promo data plan till last night at midnight, some peoples accounts didn't automatically switch to their regular 25$/35$ a month plan. This happened to me this morning, took a couple hours for them to add the data plan back.
I got the unlimited plan so I should have it . If a lot of people experince the same problem then Ig must b the servers not the plan.
There is a thread already on this issue. I had the same problem this morning, call tmo and make sure that your data plan is on your acct. They advisd me that the free trial period for data is over so you must purchase plan in order to keep using it.....I added the $34.99 and 15 mins later my phone started working properly again
I had the same problem (Metro Detroit). I just got off the phone with CS and they had to setup the data plan again. She stated that the initial pre-orders were setup for free access for one week and some phones have not been changed to the regular plans. It then took about 15 minutes to catch up with the phone
The strange part was, I had no internet and could not access the Market but, I was getting texts and push gmail. For that reason they transfered me over to PDA\Smartphone support. Everything just started working while I was on the phone with them.
One last thing was just yesterday I started getting 3g access, but was told that probably had nothing to do with it.
