I also have this same problem and it would be nice if someone knows how to do what you're asking.
I have a G1 that does not receive good service inside the buildings on my school campus. I have connected to my school's hidden network, yet the school has a web proxy that you need to set in order to actually use the internets. I have set up this proxy, for example, on my MacBook through network settings and adding a web proxy and the specified port, therefore Safari and all other applications are able to access the outside through this proxy.
When I connect my G1, I am not able to use any applications or the web browser because I guess they cannot access the actual internet. I have looked through the Wi-Fi settings and I cannot find where to add a web proxy.
Does anybody know where I may be able to? Maybe through something downloaded from the market?
Thanks in advance.
