^amen!!! Couldnt have said it better myself!!! I prefer the g1 over the iphone period!!!!
OK, enough with the babies on here crying about all the "flaws" the G1 has, 1st off the G1 runs an OPEN-SOURCE OS, I know many of you babies probably don't know what OPEN-SOURCE means so why not do some research before you purchase an open-source phone, it will only get better from here, the 3G network isnt the best in the world at THE TIME, but it is T-Mobile's 1st attempt with 3G so did you expect it to be PERFECT??
The camera is 3 Megapixels, how is that terrible???? Its a phone camera not a Digital SLR, of course it will be blurry if you move, even an SLR is blurry if you move, has no 3.5mm stereo headphone jack, get a damn adapter! The apps you downloaded don't help, guess you downloaded the wrong ones, and they will not bring out the amazing apps until there is a fee to purchase them and of course you babies will complain then cuz there is a fee!
This is the 1st version of Android, it is in its infant stages of course it wont be perfect, thats like saying the Windows OS was perfect when it came out, if that were the case there wouldnt be a Windows VISTA out now, we would still be on the same OS that 1st came out for Windows, and last but not least, the people who buy a G1 with no data plan and complain cuz they can't get pictures etc... are you a complete idiot!! The whole purpose of this phone is to be able to use the 3G network, when you buy the phone they tell you this!! you might as well go buy a freakin Motorola Razr if your not gonna use the G1 to its full capabilities!
STOP the IGNORANCE and study b4 you open ur mouths about this and that, go buy a iPhone and take your CRYING to an iPhone forum!!!
^amen!!! Couldnt have said it better myself!!! I prefer the g1 over the iphone period!!!!
This is what happens when you are an early adopter. If you are going to complain then return it and shut up. Hopefully you are within your two weeks.
Regardless the G1 is not for everyone. Yes it has allot of potential but i think for the time being we have to sit back be patient and let this OS evolve. The first iphone was NOT PERFECT!

cant put this damn phone down...
Let not forget the battery get crazy hot sometimes.and battery life sucks...
The chin sucks.
It kinda fat...
Only comes with a 1gb card
It not that sexy
Cant stop the rain from falling.
Cant make pancakes.
Cant print money.
Cant do things that a cheap nokia 6085 can do.
The phone still rocks..
1) The G1 hardware is solid, though no 3.5 does suck
2) Apple allows partial root access / native code so that games and media apps use the actual hardware power.
3) Android is "open" if you define this as Java-open.
4) There is enough postings and responses from software developers to confirm this.
An example is like having a fast computer that you must use Java with. The G1 is no different in that respect, because it is a powerful device that is constrained by the Java layer. As in my previous post- even a simple codec must go through Java and it takes cpu overhead to do it.
"Open" is good if you like a hundred tip calculators using the lego blocks of the SDK. Apple may restrict similar apps, but at least they do not completely restrict using the direct hardware power of the device.

I agree with every point you make except about the camera. 3MP is great but it's the worst phone camera I've owned because the software running it is horrible. 10 secs to take a pic in only the best lighting is very sad. I will complain because this should have been addressed in beta, but being an OpenSource developer I KNOW it will get fixed in the months to come :-)
I would also add one of my own. To all of you that do not know what root access is and want it explained and are shocked that you can brick your phone, etc. Do NOT even bother asking about it unless you are familiar with Linux or Unix. Go install Linux on a computer and play for a while first. Many of you grew up on MS Windows, but that was originally a consumer product grown to function in the datacenter and server market. Unix is older, and Linux is as old as WinNT, and these are much more powerful and flexible OS's primarily designed to not depend on a GUI or the average computer user. You are trying to compare why a race car has more performance but less comfort and safety features than a Honda Accord, and why a race car driver wants to take control of all the features of his engine instead of letting mechanics change his oil. It's apples and oranges.
Damn this guy is really pissed and I do get mad when people say the phone sucks it doesn't people expect it to be like the iphone but they haven't realized that this is a new OS and it still needs improvements and I'm willin to stick thru it. I dnt care other people think the phone isn't ugly to me it looks simple
I've caught android fever =]
