H is 3G. It stands for HSDPA.

Oh and I should mention that E = EDGE and G = GPRS.

GPRS is a 2.5g wireless communications that's supposed to give you 56kbps - 114 kbps. EDGE is the next level up giving you roughly twice the bandwidth of GPRS.

On the other end of the curve is HSDPA, which is the next generation of 3G (3.5G or 3G+) giving you anywhere from about 1.8Mbps up to the recently announced HSDPA+ service in Philadelphia (T-Mobile) with 21 Mbps.

If you want to read more about them, the Wikipedia articles are pretty detailed:

    Thanks a lot!

I am used to seeing 3g, so see H kind of worried me. Just wanted to make sure I will have the same speeds. Never had an ulocked phone before so kind of paranoid

No problem. If you can hit one of the "H" towers, you should do a bandwidth test to see what speed you get.

there's a speedtest app in the store and you might be able to use one of the browser based tests (http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=ban...UTF-8&fr=moz35)
