want bluetooth for uk htc magic....

sorry if this has been covered before but i want to be able to both send AND receive bluetooth.
i understand that i have to 'root' the phone.
is there a way of just adding the bluetooth system/program or do i have to 'root' the dam thing.

i have read as much as i can handle about this subject but as a relative PC novice things are getting very complicated.

can anyone in layman's terms finally give definitive advice/info on achieving this modification.

(i have several bluetooth apps which send but not receive, androbex, bluex, bluetooth file transfer.
my phone has '32b' software on a uk vodaphone htc magic with built in google)

Search the market for Bluetooth File Transfer. Think there is an app by a company called Meridian that will allow this.
