Voice Dialing sucks

With as many complaints as you have posted you:
a) Work for Microsoft
b) Work for Apple

Voice dialing works absolutely flawlessly.
"Call Tiffany" -- pops up a chooser for whether to call my wife on her cell, or her work. Works awesome for every other contact in my list as well.

The voice dialing works better on the G1 than another device I have used.

I found a workaround for the voice dialer.

On some names, the G1 voice dialer doesnt know what to do with the spelling of the name.

For example, my wife's name: "Cheryl"

i think the g1 wants to here "Chair-ell" not "share-ell"

so it doesnt know what to do.

I made a dupe contact under the name "Sheryl" and it will find that one every time.

So if you have a friend named "phil" you might wanna try "fill" as a dupe entry for voice detection.

I think they should add a field in the contacts for alternate voice-dialing phonetic spelling of the name.



You can put this ingenious solution on my resume for Apple or Microsoft :P

it works flawlessly for me. i like the voice dialer i think its much better compared to other phones voice dialer.

yeah the voice dialer is garbage.. ive tried it so many times..with simple names and it cant pick it up..crap

It's working fine for me. I use it all the time and have only had it detect the wrong name once. I especially like how it shows you several options that it thinks it could be. then you can select from there.

Coming from a previous WM6 device I'll take this any day.

It could be some folks diction, if you have maybe a heavy accent or something, maybe it (like the rest of the world) is having trouble understanding you

LOL. Tiki, maybe your phone is busted? You have complained about a number of features that many other folks seem to have working fine.

Go to the store and swap it out.
