Unlocked phones on TMobile.

I have been looking at other phones from HTC. They are not specifically for TMobile. I know in the past, using an unlocked phone, you lost quite a bit of functionality. Is that still the case? What, if anything, would I be unable to perform if using an unlocked HTC handset?

Nothing at all would you be unable to perform as long as the handset is set up correctly with the necessary APN, MMS and SMSC information. Oh, and that your contract permitted the operations you want to do.

And if I buy an unlocked Nokia N900 will I loose any functionality?

The pulse is in europe, and if you are on t-mobile i think the unlocked n900 is still for t-mobiles 3g frequencies, so youd actually have ALL functionality.
