Just curious as to why anyone would do this? If your a T-mobile customer all you have to do is ask for the unlock code & they will give it to you. I have personally done it 3-4 times w/ my Crackberry's. So if you buy it for $179. & then decide to cancel you still only paid $379 w/ the $200 cancellation fee, & you have it unlocked... Am I missing something?

Are those things real? Does anyone know if rogers Canada work on a 3g network just like T-Mobite?

I would shy away from these things - just a word of advice. Eventually anyone can get any of their phones unlocked (with the iPhone 3G as an exception). I travel out of the country a lot and in the past, T-Mobile has never refused unlocking any of my phones. Unlike at&t, T-Mobile does not offer service or services with partnering carriers around the world, so they really don't have a choice at the moment.

I think apple is selling the iPhone 3G unlocked in Hong Kong:

Offering free shipping, the 8-gigabyte phone goes for $5,400 Hong Kong dollars ($695) while the 16-gigabyte version costs HK$6,200 ($798).

Ridiculous though, thats like two to three G1s (depending on the price u get it @)

Just called T-mobile, had my RAZR unlocked and asked about the G1, they'll unlock it on Nov. 23, 2008 since I live in California and have a 30 Day buyers remorse period. After that they'll unlock it for me and they made notes just to make sure

thats an awesome plan!!!

that may be the route i go. unlock it and use it with AT&T. switch up between it and my iphone. i prob just use it mainly on wifi at home. i am curious what social networking apps will be developed

they don't charge at all to unlock?

is it going to be 179 for new customers? if so when can new customers buy it?
