A well known member over at a Nike forum im part of posted this
This is my girl's sister's boyfriends phone, he's had it for a while but I just got to take pics today. He let me mess around with it for a little. His dad works for Google and has had his phone for a month. As you can see, this one is an unbranded grey color, locked to t-mobile. It still has the sample numbers at the bottom and on the sides of the phone. His mom has a white one which I've seen. It looks better than the grey. His dad's G1 is unlocked to Att/Cingular. Sorry the pics aren't not tagged. Pics were taken with my N95-4 8GB. He said he may be able to get me a G1 this week, so if I get one I'll update with more pics and info. I'll upload the vid in a little.
I uploaded all these pics on my own btw to avoid hotlinking

You can unlock any phone with T-mobile without issue. I have unlocked 2 blackberries with them previously. So I know this is possible.
The only issue is that 3G will not work on AT&T but you can defiantly use EDGE or WIFI..
Divorcing Blackberry for Android....
Once locked to its carrier phone always can be unlocked. Manufacturer always provide unlocking code to carrier - and then carrier decides what is acceptable criteria to unlock the phone for someone.
Nice find but pics do not really show unlocked G1
T-Mobile US Stock Rom & Android Froyo 2.2 FRG33 (mccm); LinPack 38MP; Quadrant 1750
Looks like one of those early prototype phones, given the numbers on it.
thanks for the photos. I'm trying to overlook the color and focus on what's on the screen. I am sooo excited to get my own.
This really looks like a test model with the serial number on the bottom like that. If it was unlocked it would still be branded to T-Mobile.
And Google will know exactly who's phone this is using those numbers.
