    Default UMA connection

I know this isn't only specific to HTC phones, and even more so, to G1 phones. But this goes how I say it does (unless an admin modifies it).

Anyway, I was previously attached to Blackberry phones (pearl, curve, etc.), and all of them connected to UMA when a wifi connection was available. Now, I've been doing some googling, and I am definitely not the first one to question this. What I've mainly been coming to is that there is no "official" hardware for UMA to work, so the G1 theoretically should be able to use UMA. But I haven't found any answers beyond this. If we can, we don't we?

The reason this is extremely relevant to me is because my school has wifi everywhere, but tmobile service hardly works there, even when outside.

As I recall this issue was discussed when G1s came out and the answer is no. Cannot connect to UMA. Interestingly, the company that makes Magic Jack is making a femtocell... here:
