mines running opposite of what you stated nice and smooth im writing this message with it right now
I used the G1 today and:
1. i found the phone didnt really register my touches as well as the iphone.. Such as pulling up the task bar and the apps menu. Yes i know i probably shouldnt compare it, but why freakin not? these 2 phones are pretty much the only ones w/ a capacative screen.
2. i found the browser to be pretty laggy and choppy. Didnt really register when i flicked my finger to well. Can this really be fixed w/ updates?? Dont seem like it.
3.Plus i dont know if its cuz it was a demo phone, but the phone was acting like a win mo with too many apps running in the background. It wouldnt even switch back to portrait once I exited out of the browser and closed the keyboard.
what does everyone else think????
However though, I thought the build quality of the phone was pretty damn good imo. It was until i started using it, was when i had second thoughts, and wanted to wait it out.

Mine is running great as well. Could it be your phone?
Divorcing Blackberry for Android....
Can't say I've had either of those problems in the two days I've had my phone.
not a single problem here
to number 1. I haven't had that problem, but yeah I miss multitouch
to 2. I've been on wifi today and it's been quick, as a matter of fact (i know its not the browser, but) i actually got a couple of gtalk messages on my phone before the computer I was sitting in front of. But because I've been sitting in front of a computer I haven't really gotten into the web browsing on it yet.
3. Honestly I haven't. couple of times it's acted... stuttery.. but then it just hops to and moves along. but thats about it.
well, maybe it was just because it was a demo phone. I edited my 1st post. check it out^
I noticed its a little clunky- yeah
not butter smooth
the touch screen often doesnt want to accept me clicking something.
Like the "post reply" icons on this forum. I had to try and click that thing about 8 times- finally had to use the damn trak ball to hit it.
They should just make the G1 with a slidein stylus like the DS lite.
TIki, you think they can really fix the clunkiness and the not registering of touches with firmware??
I dont mean to sound negative. I just wanna see if anyone else is having these problems and they can use this thread to point it out. im not trying to bash it or anything
Funny he posts another thread about it, seems like more of an issue of the links being too tiny than a touch screen responsiveness issue.

Basically all the official reviews I have been reading say that the touch screen is very responsive and comparable to the iPhone and the OS being responsive. So probably it is because of it being a demo unit. On the browser being not as smooth, it is because it loads the pages without resorting to checkerboard patterns like the iPhone, so in image heavy pages it doesn't scroll as smoothly.
I say wait it out and see again later as it gets more updates.
