Toggle between applications?

Is there a way to toggle between application windows?
(similar to pressing "ALT+Tab" on a Windows computer)

Is there a way to see what applications are running in the background, and selectively shut applications down?

For example, you are playing a game, but then quickly want to check a map, and then switch back to the game.

there is not a task manager (yet) as far as going between applications I did it once on accident yesterday so i know theres a way hopefully someone will post

If you hold down the HOME key, it will bring up the last 6 apps you were using.

There was a program available via MarketPlace, unfortunately it is no longer available.
