Please help me out everybody, and list all examples of Root Access as they currently stand for the T-Mobile G1 with Android at the Time of RC30

Please include benefits brought by applications with Root functions.

    Please, no other posting.

List of benefits I have found so far:

    • Move cache to SD card -frees up internal storage for market applications etc.
    • Enable auto-rotate on the phone - don't have to open keyboard to get landscape mode (note: currently have to install a modified version of the stock Browser to get auto-rotate)
    • Ability to delete stock applications that you don't use (e.g. Amazon Market)
    • Apply themes to phone
    • Task Manager for Root - application in the market that allows you kill any background applications currently running
    • Have a terminal with freakin' root access on your phone

    What I've done with root...
    - Move Market and Street View cache.
    - Install MacDroid theme
    - Install Task Manager
    - Auto-rotate

Sums it up nicely. Thread closed?

Oh, also have the ability to move apps to the sd card, though from what I hear it seems a bit buggy.

I'm still not sure which cache I moved, but eh

My phone still don't lag or tell me I'm low on space

the way I see it, root is more of a thing for the future (for everyone except those who like to tinker).
A lot of cool root access only apps, codes etc. are gonna undeniably come out in time.

right now its mostly just the access part of it rather than what u can do..
