Default Text messages - 'automatically converts to picture message...'

So I'm just reading through the PDF manual and it says that a text message is automatically turned into a picture message if you:

- add a second recipient
- a subject
- an attachment

Now I can understand the latter two...but why when adding a second recipient? Practically all phones (for years now) have had the ability to add more than one recipient or add a group from your contacts to send a text message to.

Does anyone know how to overcome this...?

No, adding more recipients will not turn your SMS into MMS. When that happens, G1 will alert you to it by saying, "Converting SMS message into MMS" or something to that end. Perhaps what the manual wanted to say was that if you type up a long SMS that is more than 3 times the word count of one SMS (160 letters), then your message will be automatically converted to MMS.
