Text Messages

Does anyone know if text messages that are saved on your sim card then transferred to the G1 can be seen/moved to the G1? Or is it not possible with the setup of the G1's text messaging (like a IM conversation)?

I don't believe that is possible.. I sent 1,700 messages the first 3 days I had the phone.. And deleted them all.. What attachment do you have to saved messages?

I guess I'm not writing this clear enough.

Say you had a phone previous to the G1. You send and receive text messages with that phone, but they do not appear in IM fashion (which occurs in the G1). These text messages are stored on your SIM card. When you get your new G1, you put that same SIM card into it. Is it possible to see those same text messages on the G1?
