Default So I'm excited about my G1 but..

I am worried about the battery life. From what I've read, average usage ( talking, texting, browsing ) will get ya 3-4 hours of charge time. Now, I use my phone all day long at work, texting and reading Ebooks. I'm really hoping that I can get more than 3-4 hours out of a single charge. I HATE having to charge my phone all the time, my Curve has great battery life.
Also, I know someone will probably make it, but having an onscreen keyboard is an absolute, my brother will text me 300 times in a row with single words, and having to snap open the screen and type out OK every time, is going to suck.
Last thing that I just read that worries me, is that everytime the screen goes off, and it locks the phone you have to go through the whole unlock. So, if you are using the phone to talk to someone, ( like answering services where you have to type in numbers ), you'd have to unlock the phone, just to enter the number.
I think I'm going to hang onto my Curve for just a little while and see what comes out.
But I am still dying to get the G1. Make no doubt about that

As for the unlock, you don't have to use it if you don't want to. It's just like any other phone in that regard.

The review comments about battery life have worried me too, even though they have not exactly been consistant. I think I'm right in saying the original iPhone had a very short battery life and Apple improved it with a software update, so that road is open to google. Also unlike iPhone owneres we can change to a high capacity cell (when one becomes available) or just carry a spare with us.

I can't see carrying a spare battery with me, that sounds rediculous. MAYBE if it included a charging station for that battery.
Anyone know if you can charge the G1 by plugging it into a mini usb via your personal computer ( like the blackberry )?

I think all HTC phones charge when connected via mini usb....which is what I was going to suggest. If you're at work, you can charge with either your computer or a wall outlet. When you're in the car you can charge with a car charger.
