    Default SMS auto delete?

Well I keep having issues with texting "crashing," asking me to wait or force close the app, so i attribute it to 600 messages from a contact..(roughly 800 total on the phone). So to the point, has anyone found a way to auto delete after say, 3 or 4 days?

I used to NEVER have this issue with my pearl, I could keep texts on there for months and it wouldnt slow down a bit, and im a heavy texter..

    Thanks!

the G1 handles SMS conversations differently than the BlackBerries. BlackBerries only keep an immediate chain. If sufficient time has passed between two messages, they are considered to be two separate threads. This way, the number of messages need to be loaded into memory at any given time is greatly reduced. The G1 doesn't do that obviously. It will display all message from a contact. At some point, the memory will get overloaded, and thus the problem you are experiencing.

As far as I know, there is no way to change that currently. What I would recommend is buy your friend a G1, and start texting each other via email.
