Thread: Signal Strength problems

    Default Signal Strength problems

Has anyone else been having severe signal strength problems? I have a T-mobile Nokia that gets 3-4 bars at my home, but the G1 gets zip. In the past 1.5 days I've had my G1, I've only connected during the first 15 minutes I turned it on. Since then, I've tried it from my home all way to downtown Portland OR (12 miles away) and still couldn't use it to make a phone call when I needed.

Once on the Interstate I got a signal long enough to make a 20 second call. My old Nokia was solid and always has been in these locations. Any similar experiences with anyone?

I spent two hours with tech support, which very nice to work with, and they eventually said their top technicians would review everything and get back to me "after a while".

The strange part is that first 15 minutes out of the box at my home. It fired up and connected to the 3G right away. I even watched a few youtube videos. After that, nothing but brief random hiccup-like connections that last from less than a 3 seconds to a minute or two.

They replaced my phone today. A tmobile employee spent three minutes with it and said it was a dud. The new one is working perfectly. Very strong connection in all locations.
