Do you want a Smart Phone, or a Camera?
With better software will the camera get better? Cause the sidekick 08 has a better camera, more options functions, says the resolution and the settings info somewhat transparent when youre snapping a shot, and right when you click the camera button it snaps the shot quick, theres no steady holding, or blurryness if you move fast, the capture is soo quick and it comes out clear, nice images. &although the resolution on the video recording on the sidekick o8 is small still is clear and looks good. Is it possible through software &the android OS updates to be able to get the camera up to par? Its such a hassle to take pics, the shutter takes forever to close and the lighting, colors are horrible, the main deal is it takes forever to load and snap a shot.

Anyway for it to get better? &how?

Very good point jets, but may I also add I have a lx which is basically the same thing because my friend has a 08. And sidekicks are fun for a while but you'll get bored of it because its so confined you get tired of the childish aspects of it. I mean it's a great phone but the G1 with android can always add stuff. Tmo barely adds anything worthwhile to the catalogs besides a short list of games I'm sure will be added to android at some point. Also the camera isn't all that neither, it just looks good on the sidekicks screens.
do you want ****yness.. or quality. I paid good money for it &i'm paying more monthly umm, its called convenience and if you're going to make a phone thats supposed to be a new hit. Don't put ****ty basic stuff on there. Sucks enough can't even record video, atleast have a decent camera that doesn't take 5 years to snap a picture. &why bring a camera... when you have a phone that has one that you can take with you, &you can just email it to yourself... again convenience. i mean the reso is large enough, clarity &shutter speed = horrible. Who wants to bring a camera around with them all the time.
i am complaining just like every one else out there about the camera ... but i'm really asking more so if can it get better through software &the android OS, is it possible to make it better...
I want both. I want a phone that has it all. Great web browseing, good camera , nice features , music player , etc all in one . But apple has failed with the camera and so does the g1. Come on it's 2008 there should be a smart phone that has a 10mp cam and does it all but nah not yet.

i agree. I hate when ppl act like so what. when i saw 3.0mp camera im like wow, but when i get it im like what 3.0mp looks ***ty. nearly 4 hundred dollars and shutter speed is crap low light areas=crap. i hope they fix this issue among others because i think this phone has unlimited potential.
I agree the 3.0 mp camera really was a nice feature that attracted me to the g1.
i was about to switch to at & t for an iphone but then i read all the features about the g1 and decided to stay with t-mobile.
camera is crap. it does not look like 3mp. iphone has less resolution but better pics.
wish i could go back and undo my order.
you do have 14days to return it after you received it i believe. Meaning if you got it after the 19th you should be able to return it.
The sidekick is a great device, but not really open at all. It is what it is, and been about the same over the past 2 and a half years i've had it. They now deciding to add video to it, when that's been around since the first motorola rzar yrs ago. Catalog is a joke, and so is $2.49 for a ringtone ( vs $.99 or $.89 for full song on amazon). It still is a great device though, just no longer to my likings.
I can't wait to view word doc and pdf files on this phone though. That was one of the bigger things I was hoping for coming from a sidekick.
More megapixels does not equal better camera. My Canon S3-IS (6 megapixels) will shoot better pictures than whatever point and shoot 12megapixel camera you come up with any day of the week. There just isn't the focal depth or quality sensor available for a cellphone to deliver a good picture at anysort of reasonable price.
Go find a good camera, notice how big the lens is. Notice how heavy the camera is. Now figure way to cram all that into a phone. Now look at that phone and realize it's as big as the old brick sized phones people used to have.
