Someone i know has a G1 " for sale for parts" he says it keeps restarting on its own. Maybe its software related? is it worth buying for $60? maybe i can reflash firmware or something? ( i have never had a G1 so sorry for the newb speak)
Do it. Its probably software related. If its bricked you can always unload it on ebay so there's nothing to lose. When you get it come back to Android Community and use the search to find out how to root your new toy and install a new (and better) ROM
yeah it was on craigslist hopefully its still there, i dont think he knows what rooting would be he sounded like an amateur with those kind of things, yeah i once bought a continuously restarting iphone and all it needed was a restore
I WOULD NOT buy it. Reason being, my first G1 started rebooting randomly, and it was not software related at all. I finally realized after several weeks that if the body was even the slightest bit twisted, it would reboot. Problem is, the G1 is not very rigid, so putting it in the pocket is more than enough. There's nothing that could've been done for this G1, and I wouldn't wish that level of unreliability on anyone.
His G1 is still under warranty, so he should get a replacement. They replaced mine no questions asked.
All that said, you're probably going to buy it anyway, and I sincerely hope it isn't a problem like mine had, or you'll be wishing you had that $60 back.

This happened to me before to..if he is still under Warranty tmo will replace it no problem..My problem was just the battery so maybe try another if u have an extra if its not that and its not rooted then I would say no because hard-wipe may not work if he hasn't already tried that...if not its the first thing t-mo will suggest..but doesn't seem like a bad deal and there always reselling as everyone else has said
