Default Setting up a GoDaddy Email Account

Has anyone had trouble setting one up? I'm getting connection errors left and right, and any emails that are coming into my mailbox aren't displaying in the notification bar.

Did you follow these settings when setting up an email account?

    Username
    Your full email address.

    Password
    Your email account password.

    Incoming Mail Server
Use imap.secureserver.net for your incoming mail server.

    Outgoing Mail
ServerUse smtpout.secureserver.net for your outgoing mail server.

    Incoming Port
If you enabled SSL, use port 993. If you do not have SSL enabled, use port 143.

    Outgoing Port

If you enabled SSL, use port 465. If you do not have SSL enabled, use port 25, 80, or 3535 for your outgoing port.

I don't know what to say. I am using IMAP to connect to my 1and1 email and it is working fine.

Have you ever used a mail client to connect to this GoDaddy account? It should be exactly the same?

Yeah, I used my blackberry. It had no problem whatsoever. I'm just gonna play with it a bit today to see what I can figure out.

I just got my G1. I've been trying to set up my godaddy email account that I use for my business. The incoming part of the step works, but the outgoing does not. I've tried every combination of suggested codes for the server, type, and security setup and nothing works. Most of the time it's a 501 error message. I'm ready to take it back and get the new blackberry. Never had problems and email setup always took just a few seconds.

    Hello,
I may have an understanding of the problem and give you some guidance based on my experience.

You are experiencing the same matter I was having on by my phone and my personal email account on my PC.

The problem that is arising is that your cell phone carrier and sometimes your home carrier (in my case it's Sprintpcs and SBCGLOBAL) will not allow godaddy-based emails to go through their servers on an outbound basis. They fear spam matters.

The workaround I found is that you need to set your outbound server info to your native carrier. If you cell service is through Sprint, then you need to use Sprint's outbound servers.

Base level tech support will often times tell you that they do not handle outbound mail anymore (sprint) but this is not true.

I had the same problems with SBCYahoo. SBC would not allow me to send my godaddy emails through their outbound servers.

The downside is that some email applications will not upload your outbound emails to your imap outbox. So you will not have a permanent record on your email server of outbound emails.

I had the same problem but i fixed it by using pop.secureserver.net instead of imap.secureserver.net
