welcome to a/c and cute pichopefully simms is 'round here (he seems to be the only one around here who knows anything
LOL) and can help you out...I rooted the old school way and am not all that familiar with this one click root business
okay so i decided to root my phone using the 1-click method. i used the flashrec-20090815.apk to make a recovery-backup.omg then i did the flash cyanogen recovery 1.4. next, i went into recovery mode and did nandroid. then i wiped my phone. (i was instructed by a friend who used this method to root his phone).
The PROBLEM is that i wasnt supposed to reboot my phone into normal android and i didnt mean to. i tried to reboot into recovery, but i guess i didnt press the home+end buttons long enough so it booted into normal android. Every time android boots, it reflashes the recovery partition with the default one from a file stored in my phone (as the guide states), so what i did was undone >:O
SINCE my phone was wiped, i have to redo the google sign in BUT i cant because i dont have a data plan. i rely on wifi and no, i cant get the plan so dont suggest it.
Now, i am trying to use ADB to bypass that, but so far i have gotten no where. when trying to install the adb.exe, the command prompt window closes before i get a chance to see anything. the g1 doesnt show up on my phone as a "android composite device" or whatever its called (i forgot)the device isnt found when i try to run it in cmd. i dont know if its because i didnt install the driver or something else. i got the drivers but i cant install it, the comp says that i have the best drivers possible. can someone please help me out?
the important thing is that i can get pass the sign in so i can use the phone. i dont want to root anymore >___<
i have vista home premium 32-bit and my phone has rc29 installed.
thank you for your time and sorry for the uber long post :P
OH BY THE WAY- when booting into recovery, i have the exclamtion point with the 3 optons after i press alt+L.

omg, sorry for the late reply, i was afk. you're prolly gone by now but anyways, i rooted from cupcake:3
the one from the apk i installed (refer to first post)
i dont know how to do that. and when rebooting into recovery, its a exclamation with 3 options
you need to get a post cupcake rom on your phone to bypass the gmail login or use wifi for it. you can flash with that, you'll need to access the card via a card reader
once you have that file in the root of the card (ie on the card but not in a folder) rename it to update.zip (if you don't see the .zip bit then just to update) then put the card back in the phone and ]switch off the phone again and then hold down the home key while you switch it on. Keep the home key held down until you see the recovery screen, Then press Alt+L on the keyboard and then Alt-w to wipe then Alt-S and it should apply the update.
