right now i am tethering t-mobile hotspot on my g1!!

right now i am at borders book store using t-mobile hotspot with the g1 on my laptop. this is so cool!! the connection is not that fast (11mb) but still better than using the edge network.

last time i tried to call t-mobile about obtaining a username and password inorder to access thier hotspot as i thought that the G1 data plans includes it, but it turns out that the g1 hotspot is only for accessing thier hotspot on your G1 phone and is not ment to be used on your laptop. so what i did was use the tetherbot program and it work!!!

that's the speed between the phone/laptop and wireless router, not actual speeds online most likely.

Yeah, that looks like the rate of a 802.11b link. Why not try actually testing your bandwidth?

That T-mobile rep was wrong, hotspots are for your phone and laptop. Your t-mobile hotspot username is your phone number, and the password is the last 4 digits of the primary account holder's social security number.
