    Exclamation Review of Sapphire / Magic Firmware port to G1


    First of all I gotta give mad credit to the guys over at XDA especially, xmoo, haykuro and the others who work hard on this project to port this firmware to the G1.

    It still has alot of "BUGS" but hopefully to be fix later tonight and release a FULL functional release.

    New features:
    - Virtural Keyboard w/ Predictive Text
    - NEW UI
    - New lockscreen with transparent background to see your default bg
    - New auto-rotation animation
    - New locale for different language preferences
    - Contact icons in phonebook / dialer / favorite tabs
    - USB connection stays in notification along with other features
    - WIDGETS - Music player / Calendar
    - New UI for music player
    - Live folders
    - ZOOM for camera / video camera
    - Video Camera / faster clearer camera / shutter
    - Double tap to zoom for browser / photos (along with new zoom buttons)
    - Bluetooth AD2P

    i can't remember anything else but i know there is more

    Bugs to be fixed:
    -Auto-rotate (doesn't rotate phone when turned)
    - Wi-Fi / Bluetooth does not work
    - Setting Default wallpaper doesnt work
    - NO NO NO Default google apps which includes - market / gmail / google sync / IM apps / amazon music / youtube

    be patient and wait for full release within this weekend.

    until now you can either enjoy the screenshots or take the "Plung" and try the update yourself.

    Well it seems android has matured quite a bit in about 6 months.
    Things I liked in there...
    full copy paste
    The picture mode: contact, photo or video
    The image number displayed on the camera screen
    The improved zoom on the browser and included in the picture viewer
    The music widget


    Wow android is growing up so quick.

    Not to mention the very nice animation. Thats really going to take the dullness out of the transitionless sea of android.

    I can't wait to update my G1 with this. But, I am going to wait until the full release is out.
