Thread: Questions Before Purchase

    Default Questions Before Purchase

    Hey.

I've been checking out this forum for the past couple weeks. I'm interested in getting a G1 to replace my horrible Sidekick 2008.

My main concern is purchasing a G1 between the end of November and the beginning of December and getting one of the models that have been having so many issues.

Do those of you who have had concerns think that the *main* issues will be resolved in the newer release? Or will I just be taking my chances by not waiting until next year?

Also, does anyone know when the Bronze G1's will be available again? I would really prefer a bronze to a black, or even a white one!

I would also really love to hear from anyone switching from the SK2008 to the G1 and your thoughts.

    Thanks!

    Molly

I've got the same concern. It seems that a lot of people are exchanging their G1s multiple times to get a "good" one. Are the newer ones better because they are built differently? Or, is it simply the luck of the draw? Will waiting until December or January result in a better chance of getting a "good" one?

my 2nd phone is spectacular (had this one for nearly 2 weeks, first one was a from the first batch on release day). The bronze ones are available at the stores i've been to here in SoCal. Just call ahead. If you can, try purchasing it in person instead of online in case you have any issues.
Dont listen to most of the complaints here. Most of us are just nitpicking and abuse the hell out of the phone. Duh of course the battery isnt gonna last all day if you're watching youtube and listening to music and talking on the phone at the same time.
Im sure half of the people here wouldnt have complained once about their phones but after reading about one person having some sort of problem it starts to screw with your head. Then all of a sudden your phone is broken too and before you know it you're on your 5th phone.
Its a good phone and it probably had just as many issues as any other phone out there. I will say that this even with its tiny problems is way more reliable than my treo's or blackberry's ever were. The OS is rock solid and its a great phone/pocket computer. Dont be fooled by the G1's rather dull appearance. This phone is amazing. Lol and i dont really see the need to wait. In all honesty there really arent any issues with current hardware (including the battery).
Theres a video posted on youtube of a dude pulling his screen to show how loose it is. Well no ****. Keep on pulling bud.

(oh i returned my first one because there was a bad creaking problem, most people who have newer ones dont seem to be complaining about it)

Considering you're a T-Mobile customer just go ahead and pick one up. If it doesnt live up to your expectations you could return it.

    No risk for you.

As for my opinion - Great phone, works very well.

Can someone please explain to me the difference between a Sidekick 2008 and a Sidekick LX... are they different phones? Are they the same thing? I've seen "Sidekick 2008" used a few times and never knew what it was!

Also, I preordered mine the day that preorders were open, so I definitely got one of the first-batchers and my phone is flawless.

Ninja Chuck JaceMan wonders if drfunk1986 realizes that his name is not Ninja Chuck Norris Android but instead drfunk1986. Ninja Chuck JaceMan appreciates those wise enough to refer to themselves in the third person, but only when the individual is aware of what his name is.

Ninja Chuck JaceMan is going to scissor kick drfunk1986 in the back of the head cause he's all hopped up on Mountain Dew!
