    Default Q on Battery Life?

I have read every topic pertaining to battery life - but can never find a clear answer. I really want to get the G1 (tired of my lx already, and G1 looks perfect for me)... but I'm very concerned about this battery life...

I am always texting/aiming on my phone - and with the G1 I expect to be playing around with it quite awhile.

So what is the status on battery life? Will it be able to last me from 6am-4pm with moderate use?

This is the ONLY thing stopping me from getting the G1, and probably one of the most important things that I need - a good battery life.

Someone with the phone and a day with it answer please

If all your going to be doing is texting, make sure that you go into the settings and check off "only use 2G networks". If you keep your phone on 3G, your most likely not going to make it with much battery left around 4pm. I love my G1, but I'm giving a honest answer.

i went from an lx to the g1. for a sk user i believe its the perfect phone. as for the battery lasting that long it sure can but it all depends on what u do while texting..example if ur playing with the gps looking at maps and playing games and using the apps well its a good chance it may not last to that time. for me im at work between 8am - 6pm i have my lx charger here which works with the g1 so while im here at its plugged in so for me it works out well. now i use to text and listen to songs on my lx and the battery life on a day im away from work and just out and about would drain in the same way the G1 does but just not as quick. but remember everyone is using every app and showing off to people and getting a hang of the phone so there battery is and will die quick..but do the little thing tmo tells us to do turn down the back light and turn off gps when not in use....

I've had my phone off the charger since 7am and have been sending emails and browsing occasionally through the day and my bar is still green. I'm typing this from my phone right now too.

AIM and text mostly... the casual web surfing... and most definetely using apps for entertainment. I really dont need 3G mostly, so that really isn't a problem - I have patience to wait, but sometimes I would want 3G (IE: Youtube).

On my LX, I finish at the end of the day with 3 sticks (using it as my ipod aswell all day).

And also, do you think there would be an update of some sort to improve on it?

we assume there will be an update, but no one can say for sure, the other advantage is that the battery is removable, so you can always get an extra battery if you think you'll need one, that's what I did for my MDA and that's what I plan on doing for this phone also.

I started the day at 9AM and now its 2:30PM. It says I have 20% remaining left. I've used it on and off all day to check emails, install new apps, play with new apps, show coworkers and etc.

Made a 30 minute phone call w/ blue on
    Blue - OFF
    WiFi - OFF
    GPS - ON
    3G - ON
    Screen Brightness - 20-25%

I wont make it to 4pm at this rate.

I love the damn thing but it gets way crappier battery life then my old Tmobile Wing (aka HTC Herald) and Tmobile MDA (aka HTC Wizard). But I will factor in that my comsumption has gone up. I am using it more than I reguarly do my old Wing since it's still new and I'm playing/learning with it.

Webmail's a pain in the ***. Some one needs to make an app for Exchange Sync soon before I loose my mind. I've even brought my old Wing to try to Bluetooth internet share my G1 to the Wing to get internet so I can retain the use of my Outlook Active Sync. Didn't work
