Default Problem with my keyboard!? GRR!

Ok, so I bought a G1 off ebay, used, and it just came in the mail today. I bought an unlock code online so I could use my AT&T sim. I went to type in my unlock code on the phone, started typing the numbers in, then I stopped and notice the screen kept typing 4 4 4 4 4 4 on its own. It was just 4 repeating. I'm like, what the heck? So I delete it and start typing the code again and it does it again, and I press the 4 down really hard and it stops temporarily. Then I tested out the text messaging and the letter i keeps repeating and eventually, it shows the window to insert a symbol (the weird-looking i's with accents over them), like when you type and hold the letter i down. So I delete it and hold i down really hard and it stopped temporarily again. Now randomly, the i keeps coming on like while I'm watching YouTube and it'll show iii in the search box and then the window will pop up to insert one of the accented i's.

Is this maybe a software problem? I doubt it, but just a guess. I had RC30 on and it was doing it, then I put RC33 on and it was still doing it. There's nothing stuck under the keys, and I'm wondering if it maybe got wet.

It says on the ebay auction you get 7 days to return the phone, but I already unlocked it, so I'm out $25 for unlocking it + shipping.

Anyone have any ideas to fix this? I'm frustrated. I got it to stop temporarily, but once it comes on again, I get mad, hold down the button really really hard and it stops again temporarily.

Idk what to do I don't want to send it back and buy a new phone.

The only thing I can think right now is that there was some kind of spilling on the keyboard... let's say soda or simply sweat... so the keyboard membrane is sticking and giving you the repetition problem.
You can return the phone to the seller or you can try to disassemble it and clean the keyboard BUT there is no guarantee that it will work.

Well if it got wet take your battery out and on the right hand side of the wall right next to the copper prongs should be a white dot if the dot is red then it has water damage.

When the phone came in the mail today it just came in a padded envelope so something may of happened to it in shipping. but also there was a piece of paper that made its way into the slot above the volume buttons, and were thinking that maybe more pieces are inside since we also found other little pieces behind the screen. so it may be possible that the piece was moving around and thats why only the "i' does it now and not the 4's. it doesnt do it enough where she wants to return it though, since we just paid to get it unlocked as well. the stickers on the phone are still all ok, and the problem seems to be happening less and less.

Well we just found a little side effect to the random "I". When the screen is off it will turn back on because of the "keyboard press" and the screen won't turn back off after thay happens. So any ideas on how to fix this before we return it and waste the money on the unlock cost?

More than likely your keyboard got wet through the front. Easiest thing and best thing to do is to replace the PCB keyboard. thats what will fix the problem. (on most occasions)
