You can use MP3's for ringtones.
I have a sidekick and the one thing I hate is buying them from the catalog there so short and your also stuck with the very small selection. Can we make our own ringtones on the G1?

I can make my own MP3's with the HTC Dash, dont see how you couldnt with the G1. BTW as far as i know, the sidekick is the only phone you have to buy ringtones for, i might be wrong though.
yeah thats the main reason why I HATE the sidekick... ringtones are a nogo, which is capitalist BS from T-Mobile. But hey business is business. They still sold millions of sidekicks
Glad to hear this. this is one of the topics i have been wanting to post.
Thanks!

Ok guys, heres something i'm going to suggest from expirience..
make your own ringtones via WAVEPAD[google it]
when you make em, amplify the volume 75% and your golden.
once your done, save as MP3's and put em' on your microSD.
ALSO.
in the marketplace there is a app called ringDroid that lets you make rintones out of the full length MP3's on ur microSD. with ringDroid you can select the portion you want as well as the length of the tone you want to make.
-mikey
also, audiko is a cool internet ringtone editor. you can take songs from youtube and clip them![]()
