well the deal breaker is that you have to wait till the 25th to get it and that's gonna be a problem. your 14 days from the day you receieve it not when you decide to register it. so i dunno what to do in your situation.
I was home for Thanksgiving break from college and my dad went ahead and ordered me a white G1 for Christmas. I am really excited about getting it, but I've been lurking these forums for a few days and am now worried about the keyboard lighting issues.
I've seen a 14 day trial period mentioned here, when does that start? My G1 will probably arrive between Dec 8 - 11 or so but I won't actually get my hands on it until the 25th, so I'm trying to figure out what to do if I need to exchange for the black.
Also, my local T-Mobile said I could only get the G1 online...is that just my local store or is that the case everywhere in the US? That's another factor I'll have to deal with if I need to exchange for black :/

Call. T. Mobile. Now.
No, call T-Mobile to ask them the terms and conditions of your contract. It could be different for you than the people you're asking.
actually the keyboard light is not bad~~i could type with no problem~~
I don't think there is any problems with the keyboard backlight on it. Its only a problem when there is low light I guess? But if you know a qwerty....you're fine. People make it into a bigger deal than it is.
i just got a white g1 and the lighting is really low, but its not really that big of a problem for me
I called T-Mobile yesterday and the lady said that I would have 30 days to try out the phone, so that should be plenty. If I did think the keyboard viewing was too much of an issue, she said I could order a black replacement and send the white one back when the new one came in. Sounds good to me!
