I'm not sure if you can update directly from 1.0 to 1.5 and i think you'll probably want to update the radio also.
and I doubt you want to learn fastboot.

But you can update by putting the system image on your sdcard renaming it update.zip and starting in recovery, which i don't remember how to start...

anybody else updated a g1 manually lately?

where would I get this system image?

Scratch that, it's in the tut you posted. Are you sure this will work? And should I update from 1.0 to 1.1 and then to 1.5 and then 1.6?

Is there a way to get the phone to ring on it's external speaker instead of in my ears when I have the 3.5 mm headset plugged in? It scares the crap out of me every time I get a call, or other notification.

My battery runs for 28 hrs at most before needing a charge - it was worse before I did a hard reset. I'm not using bluetooth or Wi-Fi. I find this to be pretty bad for a phone less than 3 months old. Any thoughts? It's a Sony Ericsson Xperia X10.

Welcome to AC and welcome to the world of smartphone. These phones can do so many things now, if u get 24 hours of battery life that's extremely good. Any reason why you can't charge it nightly?

Why is it that when I check my e-mail accounts on the G1 and they have an attachment I get a "connection error" and can't even view at least the text on the e-mail??
