On my email client? The "Email" app on the phone IS the email client. I'm using it to retrieve emails from a POP3 acct on a private server, and I'm unable to filter incoming email with this app. Can't figure it out.

If I were using the Gmail app I think that would work, but I don't have another client for this account. Any other ideas?

my SD card is corrupt but still worked with the phone (was unreadable by computer) and has been for quite a while, but since the last update, the phone wont interact with the card anymore. music and photos are all lost (no big deal, all backed up on computer) but my question is this:

contacts stored on card? they're still all available, i backed them all up using funambol. will they be deleted if i format the card? i was able to back them up successfully, but would like to know where they're stored.

SMS messages stored on card? the threaded conversations are all still available but will they be deleted when i format this SD card? i am currently trying different apps to back them up as well... i dont want to format and lose them if i dont have to, havent successfully backed them up but i want to format soon...

oh yea, apps are all still available, i assume they'll be wiped after i format, but i wrote them all down, lol

i've been on a t-mobile MDA and then Wing (it was replaced with the Wing after the 3rd time breaking)... to be honest I am a winmo fan. i hate the sluggishness of the OS but i love the apps and games that can be found and just the idea of using the same kind of interfaces i use on my PC every day... but while i was waiting for the t-mobile's touchpro2... i'm now realizing that maybe i should make the switch to android, what with all the great things i've been reading about the cupcake1.5 update (and the fact that the touchpro2 doesn't have a dpad/trackball, and i don't like HAVING to use a touch screen, although i do like having the option to use either/or)...

so with that said. i was wondering if i could ask a few noob questions that i'm sure have been answered before but maybe someone can respond with quick answers... here we go:

    1) can most things in the OS & apps be done with the trackball (little-to-no touch screen necessary) if you want to control it that way. for example on my wing, crappy as it is, i could do everything touch screen OR i could just use my directional buttons and the center button for selecting things and the menu button for bringing up menus... can i do that with the g1?

    2) does the cupcake update really make the phone run noticeably smoother than it did when the inital g1 reviews were coming out? not that they were all that bad but i did hear of some sluggishness in the beginning... i'm so sick of my sluggish winmo, the main reason i want an upgrade is to have a smooth OS (iphone envy i guess).

    3) is there a word-like document editing program included? even just a notepad for typing out notes that could then be synced to the pc and copy & pasted into word later? if no, is there a free/cheap version of something like what i'm describing in the app marketplace?

    4) do you get this alot: when talking on my wing, i'll be in a call and my cheek will put people on hold, switch to different programs, change the damn time... haha. all kinds of crap. even if i turn the screen off, it finds a way to turn back on while i'm talking. anyone have problems like this with the g1 too or is pretty good about just being a damn phone when you're trying to talk?

    5) coming from winmo, is there any little things i might want to know that i might not have heard about yet? little things us winmo users maybe are used to that will be drastically different when making the leap? i can barely remember being on something that wasn't winmo (i mean before that it was just a standard moto flipphone)

    6) do you have to worry about space if you have an sd in? i have a 2gig microsd i plan on formatting and moving over to this new phone, but will i have to worry about system sluggishness or errors related to actual onboard lack of free space because things are being saved to the onboard memory and not to the sd and whatnot?

ok i think that should do it for now... any help would be greatly appreciated...

ps. how is that nes emulator in the app store? run pretty good? :-)

Download AnyCut (free) or BetterCut (more elaborate paid version) from the Market. Among other things, you can use it to make one-touch direct-dial shortcuts to contacts on your home screens or make direct-email or direct-message shortcuts. If you end up with too many shortcuts, make folders on the home screen and move some contact shortcuts into those. I have 6 folders of various categories like Friends, Family, Co-Workers, etc. Setup that way, I can call about 60 contacts in 2 touches. You can have hundreds of shortcuts in folders if you want. Way better than ordinary speed-dial.

If you still just gotta have it, I think the Market has an app or two that will setup regular old-school speed dialing. Do some searching.

I'm new to the community so I'm sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place, but I have a question. So when you visit youtube using the browser, a window pops up asking if you want the video to play through the web browser or the youtube application. I accidently selected to have my youtube videos played through the browser and not the youtube app(before it would connect me to the youtube app when selected), now I have no option. When I selected for the videos to be forever played on the browser there were instructions on how to change it back but I didn't read them. So my question is this...How do I get the automatic connection to the youtube app through the browser? Like what steps will I have to take?

When you are on the home screen, and you go to "widgets" there is a picture frame widget... is there a way to resize the picture frame?

If you go into your phone settings, applications, manage applications, browser... it should give you the option to "clear defaults" click it... it should work, when you do it again, make sure you put youtube
