Does the G1 connect fine to Linux (Ubuntu specifically)? Will I experience any problems being a solely-Linux user?

like the answear regarding the battery life span...Bull Your lucky if you 2 hours use on the go, let alone 11 lol. It's a common fact that, most Tmobile deallers advice customer against getting the G1, simply for that fact.....

I used my G1 for 11.5hrs one day and had 40% battery life left.

Of course, EVERYTHING was switched off. No 3G, no GPS, No call locators, and screen brightness was at the lowest setting. I had the wifi on for 5 of those 11hrs.

I have always been one of the ones to say how GOOD the battery is, but for the last 3 days, I have had GPS on 24/7, and have had to recharge 2 times a day.... crazy!!! So even that one feature makes a HUGE difference.

If you are willing to run on 2g, no gps, no wifi, no aim, screen on low, etc... Then everything is good - but if you are really interested in actually using your phone, you should get the 1500mah battery with it.

Is the 1500mAh battery (do you mean 1400mAh?)sufficient to actually use all the features of the phone for, say, an entire day? (I'm not at all against charging the phone at night.)

Or is the monstrous 2600mAh battery more necessary?

I suppose the upside to the 1400mAh is that it fits in the phone without need of a new back/case.

I just carry an extra battery around, when I'm out about..

I'm still thinking about ordering that key chain charger (P790) for extra extra back up.

I just received my G1 last night and was able to play with it a bit and install a couple of aps. Very exciting! I just have a couple of questions that I dug through this thread for but couldn't find the exact answer I was looking for.

    Q. Is there any way to change the look of the clock - other than making it digital?

    Q. By accident I placed some shortcuts on my home screen - how do I remove them?
    A. Press and hold - once it vibrates drag to "Trash" icon which replaces tab icon.
