P.S. Kaz is a great guy and it was good chatting with him.

I have to ask... In the last picture, to the right of the G1 box there is some signage that at the top it says Music. Video... And then below that there are some icons and one of them is the XM radio icon. Does that signage belong with the G1 meaning that it could possibly support XM, or was it just random signage that was sitting on the desk?

I wish I could find the link, I've been searching ever since I posted the original post but no luck! The problem is that it was in about the middle of the video and they only showed the locking mechanism for a few seconds. I will search again for it when i get back home and let you know if I can find it.

I visited Kaz as well. He was sooooo nice and he took a lot of time out of his day to answer all of my questions and he didn't have to do that! That phone is awesome and I am sooooo excited about it. All the apps in the marketplace are free (for now) and I am going to get as many as I can while they're free! LOL

Thanks Kaz! I really appreciated your time! Your baby is as cute as a button!

Can you hot-key to switch between running applications, like you can on the Sidekick? For example, on the Sidekick I can be in IM and quickly switch to email by hitting "JumpKey+E", and then back to IM by hitting "JumpKey+I" and then to the browser with "JumpKey+b" - they are all running in the background all the time.

Relatedly, is email running all the time? (One of the big downfalls of the Verizon 'smart' phones is that when you switch away from email, you *exit* email and have to *restart* it each time you access email).

Oh, and can I seamlessly swap my SIM card betwen my Sidekick and the G1?

Thank you for doing this, Kaziko!

Anne

I can answer your questions:
Yes, the G1 has a "hot-key" for jumping between applications. It's the "search" key at the bottom of the keyboard. It works the EXACT same way as the sidekick. Here is the youtube video explaining this:
[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLlp9H0y_l4[/ame]

Yes, the email is running all of the time. In fact, I don't believe you ever completely close an application, if I'm not mistaken.

You can swap between you sidekick and G1, but the data portion will not work. The sidekick has its own data plan that is ran through Danger's (the sk's OS maker) servers. So, the sk data plan will not work with the G1 and vice versa.

Hope this helps!

As of right now I think that only Gtalk uses data, and the other IM apps (MSN, AIM) use text.. I don't have the phone so I'm not sure, I just think I read that somewhere.
