Several T-Mobile employees have suggested insurance as something that is very good option to go with. It secures your investment, according to them.
However, AC does not officially represent T-Mobile and advertising of their services should only be suggested as something to look into and not as a product we are trying to promote here on the AndroidCommunity.
Please stay away of possible advertisements.

Insurance is really a straight rip-off, but in this case, the g1 is your ideal reason for insurance on a phone. This will be the first time I may get phone insurance. Usually you'll pay more for the insurance than risk (aka: your own incompetence ) and then you'll still end up paying for a phone, not to mention the fine print on what qualifies for a defect..
Dont be fooled nor swayed.. you know yourself best. And if your like my girlfriend you better get insurance.
I do concur though with getting insurance on the g1 in particularly though wouldnt tell anyone to get it.... cause youd lose out if your responsible and youd be kinda ok if your like my girlfriend. just stay away from water but then again ... are you basd with phones and water....thats why its a personal choice.
could close thread though.. netcom is right.

Just called back & spoke to "Elizabeth", same answer... You need to actually have the phone to insure it. How do you insure a phone you dont own yet? Whats the serial #, or IMEI that they're gonna register it in the system with?
Guys I work for T-Mobile. Let me clear up some misinformation about the insurance for ya guys.
Insurance on each line follows the IMEI associated with the line. It will cover any phone (even if not from T-mobile, as long as it is the first time you have used that IMEI on your account).
You have 14 days from when you purchase the phone to add insurance. I don't know what the deductible is, but it will be $6 a month.
Also, if anyone has any specific questions about the G1, I've been using it for about a week now and I have to say its the best phone I've ever used. I'm actually ditching my blackberry curve for this thing and I don't even like touch screen phones normally. The web browser is just AWESOME.
Anyways, I'll try to help out with what questions I can answer, just PM me or whatever.
