Unhappy Not able to send/recieve mms on mytouch 3g?!!

So I just got a mytouch 3g tonight, and for some reason I'm not able to send or receive mms messages. Has anyone else had this problem? We've tried everything but nothings working. When I try to send there's a little message icon with a red clock looking thing on it. After a while I just get the message icon with a red triangle with a "!" in it. Also when I get mms messages, it says unable to download. I have no idea what to do! Anyone know what's going on?

are you with tmobile? Did you call them to make sure you have everything setup on your account correctly? If you are not with tmobile and have your phone unlocked make sure you have the correct APN settings.

Thumbs up Re: Not able to send/recieve mms on mytouch 3g?!!

I actually have the same issue. In addition I receive picture messages 3 times each, every time. It began with the FROYO update which in addition makes my phone so slow it is disgusting. I have contacted Tmobile multiple times, they had me do a factory reset, (Multiple times), they have replaced the phone with another my touch 3g 4 times. done multiple reset on each of the 5 phones. I have insisted they replace the phone with something of equal or grater value as I am paying about $100 per month and not getting what I pay for... they offered to replace it with the charm which has a retail value $100 less than the mytouch 3g. they will do nothing else for me besides replace the phone besides let me upgrade a little early which forces me into another 2 year contract with these people who do not support their products. In my mind, if i buy a phone, granted at a discount because of the original 2 year contract, I should not need to replace the phone a year and a half later because of an update they sent out. Customer satisfaction is paramount and i am very much not satisfied. I do not want to pay for a new phone AND have to start a new contract with then again as this is criminal. I told them i want out of my contract if they will not support their product and give to me the services i am paying for. They say i will have to pay the $200 early termination fees. My best advice... Just wrap up your contract and find a different provider... T Mobile, You should be ashamed of yourselves and should know if you would have just give me a phone of the same value or even made my "Mytouch" work I would have probably stayed and signed up for another 2 year in a few months... (been a Tmobile customer for 6 years)... Never again... How do they expect to keep customers with this?

Sorry i dont have better news for you, and if you do find some solution please do not hesitate to let me know how you made out! Good luck! Tmobile I am Very Dissatisfied! And will be posting/sharing my opinion/experience at every opportunity with hopes it will save any/everyone from experiencing the extreme dissatisfaction/overall dirty feeling you have left me with... Shame on you!

i am having the same issue as well. mine started after the update and i could send a few here and there but then that stopped as well. ive had mine replaced 4 times now and each time when i first got the phone before the update i could send/receive pic msgs with no problem but once the update installed i could not. tmobile then decided to send me a motorola charm, which is a huge freaking down grade and i still could not send pic msgs. i sent that back and kept my mytouch... search after search and call after call, there are no answers to this as far as i can tell. but at least i see there are several others who have the same issues.

i have been having similar issues as well. today i was on the phone with tech help and the customer support line trying to re-configure my apns and choose different networks etc (for about 3 hours literally) finally he told me that he had done everything he can possibly do to fix the phone and i should take it in to a T-mobile corporate store so that an agent their could look at it and see if their was something that the operator (alleged android specialist) had missed. i get to the store and she tried everything all over again that the guy had me do to no avail until finally it dawned on her after reading the about 100 different error reports reported to t-mobile none with a solution on her servers end that the update to 2.2.1 software is not supported well by older sim cards so she put in a new one and my phone was able to send mms messages immediately and i have tried it several other times through out the day to make sure its still good and havent had a problem yet. i recommend trying this as it worked for me. (they gave me the new sim card for free too!)

a new sim card didnt fix the problem for me sadly, but i was able to download a text app that fxed the problem. it wont send pics because since the update the pic files are too large to send and it wont resize them. handscent works really well even tho the app is slow sometimes. but im willing to deal with that to be able to send and receive pics again.

    Hi!

I had the same problem! I tried all the suggestions, including deleting all my drafts andmessages. But the only one that worked was to reset my phone.
I have Verizon and an HTC Droid Incredible 2.

    This is what I did:

    - I exported all my contacts to my SD card (Google, Sim, and Phone contacts just to be safe)
    - Refreshed/Synced my Verizon Backup assistant app.
    - Wrote down my favorite apps (so I would be able to reload them after)
    - Did a factory reset (goto Settings, SD&Phone Storage, and choose Factory Reset) Warning: Do not check the "Erase SD Card" box!

It will walk you through setting your gmail back up and sync your contacts. Download the facebook app, sign in, and it will prompt you to re-sync/link your contacts with facebook also.

All in all it took about 10 minutes to get everything back like I wanted it, but it was worth it and I have no problems with my mms or sending picutures anymore. Nothing on my SD card (picutures, music, apps, contacts, etc) was lost.

I think it cost me more time in researching how to fix this problem then to bite the bullet and actually do it. Plus and added bonus was getting rid of all the dumb apps I downloaded over the past year and just reloaded the ones I use the most.

    Good Luck
    Angie

Note: If you have a myTouch 3G / 3G Slide/ 4G, see: Verify the Access Point Name (APN) and internet data connection - T-Mobile myTouch 3G / myTouch 3G Slide / myTouch 4G

    Related errors:

'Sending' (but does not send, especially on Android 2.2.1)
    'Generic Network Failure'
    'Unable to send message, retrying...'
    'Permanent Error'

When you receive errors trying to send picture messages (MMS) or access data or the internet, confirm your Android phone is set up correctly. This is usually a problem with device settings.

Check mobile network settings and reset the APN

Checking mobile network settings and resetting the APN resolves the majority of issues, and is much faster than verifying all settings.

From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
    Touch Settings.
Touch Wireless & networks. Depends on software version
Note: This varies on different software versions.

    Android 1.6: Wireless Controls.
    Garminfone: Wireless Manager.
    Behold II: Phone Information.

Verify that the Airplane Mode or Flight Mode check box is cleared.
If you see a Mobile Network check box, verify it is selected.
    Touch Mobile Networks.
If you see the following check boxes, verify they are selected:
    Data Enabled
    Use Packet Data
Data Roaming This will incur charges if you roam internationally, but it is required to receive data when roaming domestically.
Touch Access Point Names or APNs.
    Press the Menu key.
    Touch Reset to default.

    Press the Home key.
Verify the person sending the message does NOT use dashes in the number or saved in contacts. For example: 5552223333 is ok, but not 555-222-3333.
Test your data connection and send a picture message (MMS) to see if it is working correctly.

    Verify and update APN settings

ONLY if the above steps did not resolve the issue, then verify the APN settings:

From the Home screen, press the Menu key.
    Touch Settings.
Touch Wireless & networks. Depends on software version
Note: This varies on different software versions.

    Android 1.6: Wireless Controls.
    Garminfone: Wireless Manager.
    Behold II: Phone Information.

    Touch Mobile Networks.
Touch Access Point Names or APNs.
If there is a T-Mobile APN, touch it. If not, press the Menu key, and touch New APN.
Verify and update the following settings for the Data APN:
    Name: T-Mobile
    APN: epc.tmobile.com
    Proxy: <Not set>
    Port: <Not set>
    Username: <Not set>
    Password: <Not set>
    Server: <Not set>
    MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
    MMS proxy: <Not set>
    MMS port: <Not set>
    MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
    MCC: 310
    MNC: 260
    Authentication type: <Not set>
APN type: <Not Set> OR Internet+MMS (depending on software version)
    Press the Menu key.
    Touch Save.
In the list of APNs, delete all others that may appear. If there is a FOTA APN, you may leave that one. To do this:
Touch the APN you want to delete.
    Press the Menu key.
    Touch Delete APN.
Verify that there is a circle next to the one remaining APN to show it is activated.
    Perform a soft reset.
Test your data connection and send a picture message (MMS) to verify it is working correctly.
